Clifford Sterling is involved in all aspects of MBS Sales & Trading. In 2012 Mr. Sterling joined Blue Capital Securities entrusted to expand MBS trading and structuring at the firm which became Tribal Capital Markets, LLC in 2015. Prior to joining Tribal Capital Markets, Mr. Sterling joined Braver Stern in 2008 following the mortgage crisis at the bequest of his friend and customer David Braver to help build a boutique mortgage trading firm. Braver Stern quickly grew and became a leader in the secondary residential MBS market, catering to a wide range of accounts from sophisticated, high-net-worth individuals to the largest hedge funds in the world. Prior to 2008, Mr. Sterling had been the Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns for 10 years focusing on agency and non-agency mortgage-backed securities for a diverse institutional client base. In 1992, Cliff joined a mortgage trading desk at Bear Stearns focusing on regional broker dealers and institutional clients. Mr. Sterling began his career in finance at Bear Stearns in 1985, joining the firm’s unit investment trust department in San Francisco, California.
Mr. Sterling received a BA in Finance from Franklin and Marshall College in 1981. Mr. Sterling is also actively involved in philanthropic activities making corporate responsibility a mandate of his business approach. He served for many years on the Board of Directors at the Ronald McDonald House® of New York and the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation.
