Mr. Mele offers decades of trading and distribution experience gained in a variety of roles at UBS Securities, LLC and PaineWebber prior to their merger.
Alan initiated his career as an Auditor at the former Ernst and Whinney (currently Ernst and Young), focused on various closely held enterprises across the Northeast. Following that three-year period, he joined PaineWebber as a Sales Coordinator with a subsequent transfer to Government Debt trading, where he eventually managed numerous trading areas that included Government Debt, GSE trading, Zero Coupon trading as well as the management of Money Market product distribution.
During his long tenure at UBS Mr. Mele gained a breadth of experience in areas that include the aforementioned trading disciplines, syndicate structuring, electronic trading development, direct client sales and marketing, as well as portfolio analysis.
Alan played a key role in the development of the UBS/PW Fixed Income distribution business, as both a risk and trading manager, that ultimately developed into a nearly quarter billion-dollar annual revenue stream. His risk management areas of responsibility were wide ranging and included Government/GSE Debt, Corporate Credit, Mortgage Backed Debt, Preferred Equity, Brokered Deposits, Emerging Markets, Money Markets, etc. Mr. Mele’s conservative approach in this role allowed for success and profitability through a multitude of market cycles.
Alan’s efforts in distribution helped UBS to achieve multiple Global Top 3 GSE league table rankings during his tenure and he continues to maintain an industry wide wholesale network that serves as a beneficial collaborative partner that benefits Tribal Capital’s client base.
Teaming with John Barry, Alan co-founded Tribal Capital Partners, the holding company of Tribal Capital Markets, LLC as a partnership with Morongo to bring financial services to the American Indian community. Alan serves as Co-Manager in day-to-day operations across all business lines at the direction of the Board of Managers. Mr. Mele is also responsible for all administrative and accounting issues at TCM.
Mr. Mele holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Accounting from New York University.
